High speed steel (HSS) single angle milling cutter, with a tooth profile of single-sided inclined slope+straight edge, specializes in chamfering, milling groove, milling dovetail groove, angle forming, deburring, with core advantages of good toughness, anti chipping edge, and lower short plate hardness than hard alloy. It is suitable for materials, machine tools, and working conditions with clear boundaries.
1、 Material processing compatibility (applicable/restricted/prohibited)
1. Compatible materials (smooth processing, normal tool life)
(1) Various types of low-carbon steel, 45 # Q235、A3、10#、20#
Medium plasticity, low cutting resistance, low wear of high-speed steel cutting edge, high efficiency in chamfering and chamfering;
(2) Ordinary cast iron (gray iron HT200, HT250)
Brittle material, no accumulation of chips and nodules, stable forming and processing of single angle milling cutters;
(3) Nonferrous metals such as copper, aluminum, brass, and purple copper
Soft metal, high-speed steel sharp cutting edge not easy to stick to the knife, suitable for chamfering thin plates and deburring profiles;
(4) Composite materials with low content of ordinary plastics, electric wood, resins, and fiberglass
No abrasive wear, high-speed steel is completely sufficient.
2. Limited compatibility (requires reducing speed, adding cutting fluid, and increasing tool wear)
(1) Medium high carbon steel: 40Cr, 65Mn, spring steel, quenched and tempered steel
The material has high strength and generates significant frictional heat, requiring sufficient cooling and avoiding high rotational speeds to prevent rapid blade burning;
(2) Stainless steel 201/304 (normal working condition)
Easy to produce chip lumps, only low-speed light cutting is recommended, and large-scale stainless steel forming processing is not recommended;
(3) Ordinary mold steel Cr12, Cr40MoV
Hardness ≤ HRC30 can be lightly processed; Tempering to HRC35 or above results in rapid wear.
3. Incompatible/prohibited from processing
(1) Quenched steel, heat-treated hard material HRC>35
High speed steel has a room temperature hardness of only HRC62~68, and the hard material undergoes high-temperature tempering during cutting, resulting in rapid wear and burning of the cutting edge;
(2) High silicon aluminum alloy, high glass fiber/carbon fiber composite, cast stone, wear-resistant cast iron
Contains hard particles, with severe abrasive wear and rapid tool passivation;
(3) Titanium alloy, high-temperature alloy (nickel based alloy)
The cutting temperature is high, the heat resistance limit of high-speed steel is low, and it is prone to annealing failure.
2、 Compatibility of processing technology
1. Adaptation process
Internal and external chamfering of workpieces, 45 °/30 °/60 ° single-sided bevel;
Swallowtail groove, V-shaped groove, single angle forming milling;
Single sided deburring of sheet metal and shaft end faces;
Local angle forming and trimming of small parts;
Small margin light cutting forming (unilateral margin ≤ 0.5mm is better).
2. Inappropriate process
Large margin rough milling and heavy cutting: High speed steel has poor rigidity and is prone to tool shaking and tooth breakage;
High speed and high feed processing for mass production: poor heat resistance, unable to perform high-speed cutting for a long time;
Deep groove, long-distance continuous forming cutting: continuous high temperature and rapid tool wear and tear;
High hardness materials are precision processed and formed.
3、 Compatibility between machine tools and equipment
1. Universal adaptation equipment
Ordinary vertical milling machine, horizontal milling machine, rocker arm milling machine;
Small CNC milling machines and machining centers (for low-speed use);
Desktop drilling and milling, tool grinding matching forming processing;
Simple automated chamfering machine and profile processing equipment.
2. Limit device scenarios
High speed machining center (continuous machining with spindle speed above 8000r/min): severe heating and low tool life;
High rigidity heavy-duty CNC rough machining machine: inferior to hard alloy single angle milling cutters under large cutting parameters;
Long term production line without cooling for dry cutting: requires emulsion/cutting oil cooling.
