       High speed steel single angle milling cutters are commonly used in four categories: W18Cr4V (W18), W6Mo5Cr4V2 (6542/M2), M42 (containing cobalt), and powder high-speed steel ASP. The core properties are high toughness, easy grinding, and good strength, but the red hardness/wear resistance is weaker than that of hard alloys, making it suitable for low-speed, complex angle groove/inclined surface machining.
Core material performance (universal high-speed steel benchmark)
1. Hardness and wear resistance
      Room temperature hardness: HRC 62-65 (universal type); Cobalt containing M42 reaches HRC 67-69; Powder high-speed steel ASP can reach HRC 69-70
      Wear resistance: wear resistance of carbides (WC, VC, etc.) formed by W, Mo, Cr, V; Lower than hard alloy, but much better in toughness than hard alloy, less prone to blade breakage
      Applicable: Processing carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, aluminum alloy, plastics, etc., not suitable for quenched steel/high-temperature alloys with HRC>45
2. Red hardness (high temperature hardness)
      Critical temperature: 550-600 ℃ still maintains HRC ≥ 60; Over 600 ℃, the hardness rapidly decreases and the cutting performance fails
      Comparison: Hard alloy can withstand 800-1000 ℃; Low speed cutting of high-speed steel (v ≤ 40m/min), not suitable for high-speed, long-term dry cutting
3. Strength and toughness (the most critical advantage of single angle milling cutters)
      Bending strength: 3400-4000 MPa, 2-3 times that of hard alloys, with extremely strong resistance to impact, vibration, and chipping
      Impact toughness: excellent, suitable for intermittent cutting, machine tool rigidity is average, and feed fluctuation is large. The angle cutting edge of the single angle milling cutter is not easily broken
4. Craftsmanship (suitable for complex angles of single angle milling cutters)
      Forging, heat treatment, grinding, gear cutting, and blade grinding are all easy, capable of grinding single angle, sharp teeth/arc teeth at 18 ° -90 °, with stable accuracy and sharp blade edges
      Heat treatment deformation is small, suitable for integral single angle milling cutters, and the cost is much lower than that of hard alloy integral cutters
5. Thermal conductivity and anti adhesion
      Medium thermal conductivity and average heat dissipation; Dry cutting is prone to chip accumulation, it is recommended to use emulsion/cutting oil for cooling
      The anti adhesion is average, and it is easy to stick to the knife when processing stainless steel and titanium alloys. High speed steel containing cobalt/powder should be selected
